2012 Photographic Competition

2012 Photographic Competition

On Saturday 9th March the entries for the 2012 competition were exhibited in Comberbach Memorial Hall. The standard of entries was very high again and all 81 entries were mounted and displayed on the day.  More than 40 visitors came to see the exhibition.

Those who had entered the Competition were eager to find out which photographs had been judged as winners or commended entries in each of the three categories.

Alison Hamlin-Hughes was very excited to see that she was named as the winning entry in the ‘Landscape’ category, which the judges described as ‘A beautiful photograph, showing the park at its best’ and ‘a feeling that you can walk into the picture and open the gate.’

A selection of the photographs will be displayed in the cafe at Weaver Hall Museum in London Road, Northwich. Pictures from the Landscape category will be on show from 16th April until mid-June, followed by the Wildlife category from mid-June to mid-August and the Fun in the Park category from mid-August to mid-October.

Our thanks to Andy Harmer, ecologist, and Nick Jones, Northwich Guardian photographer, for judging the competition and to Andrew Davies, Keeper (Social History) at Weaver Hall Museum for exhibiting the photos.

FoAM’s 2012 Photographic Competition

Following the success of our Photographic Competitions in 2008 and 2010, we have decided to hold a further competition during 2012.  Again, this is for photographs taken in the Northwich Woodlands and entries are invited from photographers of all ages and abilities.

You can find the rules by clicking 2012 Photographic Competition Rules. Copies can also be obtained from the Rangers’ Cabin at Marbury. The closing date for entries is 31st December 2012.

Get your camera out and get snapping.  Remember, previous winners have used simple point and shoot cameras as well as more expensive equipment. Composition and capturing the essence of the category entered are the keys to success.
